Strand: Developing Concepts and Skills for Physical Activity
Welcome to my Wiki which is based on the KLA of Health and Physical Education. I am a third year education student studying education and human movement. I am studying at James Cook University in Townsville.
Developing concepts and skills for physical activity is one of the three strands in the health and physical education (HPE) curriculum. Developing concepts and skills for physical activity focuses on the acquisition of understanding of physical activity and the motor skills required to participate in physical activity (QSA, 1999). Students will explore the history and gross motor skills used in Traditional Indigenous Games, which will help develop understanding of physical performance in games, sports and other physical activities and improve strategic awareness in games, sports and other physical activities (QSA, 1999).
This unit involves the integrating of Health and Physical Education (HPE), Technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) essential learnings for year 5 students. Roblyer (2004) says that "technology has both increased the number of decisions that people must make and forced them to become more skilled decision makers". This unit will allow students to integrate HPE and ICT's together which will help them work with technology and become skilled in using different software and technology which will prepare them for their future endeavors in the world.
